MyFerry Expresses Sympathy Over Recent Ferry Incident, Reassures Lagos Commuters of Safety & Seamless Travel
We at myFerry are deeply concerned about the unfortunate fire incident involving the Lagos Ferry Service (LAGFERRY) vessel, IGBEGA EKO, at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal on April 3, 2025. Our thoughts are with the injured passengers and staff, and we wish them a swift and full recovery.
Incident Overview:
- Date & Time: April 3, 2025, at approximately 06:45 hours.
- Location: Ipakodo Ferry Terminal.
- Vessel Involved: LAGFERRY’s IGBEGA EKO, en route to Victoria Island with 19 passengers on board.
- Injuries Reported: Nine individuals sustained injuries.
- Six passengers, including LASWA and LAGFERRY staff, are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ikorodu.
- Three passengers are being treated at private hospitals.
We commend the swift response of the emergency teams and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) in ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew members.
myFerry’s Commitment to Safety:
At myFerry, the safety and well-being of waterway commuters are our top priorities. We are closely monitoring the situation and are in communication with relevant authorities to stay updated on the developments.
Clarification on myFerry Services:
It’s important to note that myFerry operates as a ferry booking platform, connecting passengers with various ferry service providers. While we facilitate bookings for multiple operators, we do not currently offer services for LAGFERRY vessels. Passengers can utilize our platform to book rides with other trusted ferry operators to ensure their commuting needs are met safely and efficiently.
Alternative Routes Available:
Given the recent suspension of operations at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal due to safety concerns, as reported by LASWA , passengers are advised to use alternative terminals such as Ibeshe and Majidun for their commuting needs
